Protected on the move and at rest
Your data needs protecting in two places: while it's travelling between your device and JobTek, and while it's stored. JobTek encrypts it in both.
Encryption scrambles information so it can only be read with the right key. While your data travels, it's sealed inside an encrypted connection, like a letter in a locked case, so anyone listening in on a public Wi-Fi network sees only noise. Once it arrives, it's stored encrypted too, along with every backup, so the stored files are unreadable without the keys.
How your data is protected
Encrypted in transit
Every connection uses TLS 1.2 or later, and our websites tell browsers to always use the secure connection.
Encrypted at rest
Databases, file storage and backups are all encrypted when stored.
Secrets kept secret
Application secrets and encryption keys are held in protected configuration and managed storage.
Backed up and tested
Regular backups, with restores tested so we know they work.
Watched around the clock
Application and infrastructure monitoring, security and sign-in logs, and a documented incident process mean issues are spotted and handled quickly, with customers kept informed.
The terms explained
TLS
Short for Transport Layer Security. It's the encryption behind the padlock in your browser, protecting everything sent between your device and JobTek.
HSTS
Short for HTTP Strict Transport Security. It tells your browser to only ever connect to JobTek over a secure connection, so it can't be tricked into an unprotected one.
Encryption at rest
Encrypting data while it's stored, so files and backups are unreadable to anyone without the keys.
Cyber Essentials
A UK government-backed certification showing a business has the key protections against common cyber attacks in place. JobTek is certified.
UK GDPR
The UK General Data Protection Regulation, which, with the Data Protection Act 2018, sets the rules for how personal information is collected and looked after. Our security programme is designed to support it.
ISO/IEC 27001
The international standard for managing information security. Our controls are informed by it, along with guidance from the National Cyber Security Centre, the NCSC.
