Sign in with a fingerprint, not a password
Passkeys let everyone in your team sign in to JobTek with their face, fingerprint or device PIN. Nothing to remember, nothing to reuse and nothing to steal.
What is a passkey?
A passkey is a modern replacement for a password. Instead of a word you type, it's a secure digital key that lives on your phone, computer or a small hardware security key, and you unlock it the same way you unlock your phone: with your face, your fingerprint or your device PIN.
Think of it like a padlock and its key. When you create a passkey, your device makes a matching pair. JobTek keeps the padlock, called the public key, and your device keeps the key, called the private key. The private key never leaves your device, and the padlock on its own can't open anything, so there's nothing on our side worth stealing.
Passkeys are backed by Apple, Google and Microsoft, and are fast becoming the standard way to sign in to the apps people use every day.
What happens when you sign in
- 1JobTek sends a challenge
When you choose Use a passkey, JobTek sends your device a one-off puzzle that has never been used before and never will be again.
- 2You confirm it's you
Your device asks for your face, fingerprint or PIN. That check happens on your device, and your fingerprint or face never leaves it.
- 3Your device signs the challenge
Your device answers the puzzle using your private key, creating a digital signature only your key could make.
- 4JobTek checks the signature
JobTek checks the answer with your public key. If it matches, you're in, usually in a second or two.
Why passkeys keep your account safer
They can't be phished
A passkey only works on JobTek's real web address, so a fake sign-in page or a convincing email can't trick anyone into handing it over.
Nothing to steal
There's no password stored on our side, so there's nothing for anyone to leak, guess or crack.
No reuse
Every passkey is unique to JobTek, so a data breach on another website can never affect your JobTek account.
Always the right person
Every passkey sign-in needs the person's face, fingerprint or device PIN, so a lost phone on its own isn't enough.
The terms explained
FIDO2
Short for Fast IDentity Online 2. It's the open standard for passwordless sign-in created by the FIDO Alliance, a group that includes Apple, Google and Microsoft. Passkeys are built on it.
WebAuthn
Short for Web Authentication. It's the part of FIDO2 that lets websites like JobTek talk safely to the passkey on your device, built into every modern web browser.
Public and private keys
The matching pair a passkey is made of. Anything locked with one can only be opened by the other, which is how JobTek can check it's really you without ever seeing your private key.
Phishing
A scam where a fake website or email tricks someone into typing their password. Passkeys are immune, because they refuse to work anywhere except the real JobTek site.
Synced passkeys
Passkeys saved in Apple iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager or a similar service are copied securely to your other devices, so one passkey works on your phone, tablet and computer.

Next time, choose Use a passkey and confirm on your device. That's it.
Make passkeys the standard for your company
Company administrators can require a passkey for everyone. Anyone without one is guided through setting one up the next time they sign in, so the whole team moves to phishing-resistant sign-in together. Each person can add a passkey for every device they use, see when each was last used, and remove any they no longer need. Removing a passkey signs that device out straight away.
Questions about passkeys
Which plans include passkeys?
Every plan, including JobTek CRM.
What if someone loses their phone?
They sign in with another passkey or another sign-in method your company allows, then remove the lost device's passkey, which signs it out everywhere.
Does JobTek see my fingerprint or face?
No. Your fingerprint or face is checked by your own device and never leaves it. JobTek only receives the signed answer.
Do passkeys count as two-step verification?
Yes. A passkey combines something you have, your device, with something you are or know, your face, fingerprint or PIN, so it satisfies your company's two-step verification rule on its own.
Can we require them?
Yes. Turn on the company rule and everyone sets one up at their next sign-in.
